Starting school
How it works?
- the school will contact you and ask you to visit them to meet the staff
- you will receive information about the school and you may be asked to complete some forms
- the school will want to talk to you about what your child enjoys and is good at
- do share any concerns that you may have
- talk to your child about how exciting it is to start school and try and walk by the school during the holidays
- share any resources, ideas, or activities the school may share with you, with your child
- if your child has attended nursery, pre-school or childminder, the school will request a copy of any information they may have about your child
There are some useful books you could borrow from the library about starting school such as –
- Pete and Polo’s Nursery School Adventures by Adrian Reynolds
- Harry and the Dinosaurs go to School by Ian Whybrow.
There are also films and activities from the BBC which you may want to watch and share with your child.
