Starting school

How it works?

  • the school will contact you and ask you to visit them to meet the staff 
    child starting school

     

  • you will receive information about the school and you may be asked to complete some forms
  • the school will want to talk to you about what your child enjoys and is good at
  • do share any concerns that you may have
  • talk to your child about how exciting it is to start school and try and walk by the school during the holidays
  • share any resources, ideas, or activities the school may share with you, with your child
  • if your child has attended nursery, pre-school or childminder, the school will request a copy of any information they may have about your child

school age children with school bags and wearing uniforms. one is at an art easel. One has roller skates on.

There are some useful books you could borrow from the library about starting school such as –

  • Pete and Polo’s Nursery School Adventures by Adrian Reynolds
  • Harry and the Dinosaurs go to School by Ian Whybrow.

There are also films and activities from the BBC which you may want to watch and share with your child.
