Acorn Family Hub thank Volunteer

Acorn Family Hub wanted to celebrate the time and commitment, their volunteer Kerry has shown during the last two years.

A local parent, Kerry attended the Incredible Years program at Acorns Family Hub back in 2022 and from this became involved in other sessions at Acorns Family Hub.

Kerry has become a valued member of the Acorns and Longhill Family Hub team. Kerry began volunteering to set up and deliver the Parent Meet up group at Longhill Family Hub every Tuesday morning between 9.30 to 11.30 (term time). Kerry is taking the parent group members on a trip to York on the train this May half term. The Parent Meet up group is going from strength to strength and continues to grow every week. Pop into the Parent Meet up group to meet everyone, no need to book, everyone is welcome!

Kerry also supports us and helps deliver the Learn Through Play session at Acorns Family Hub on a Thursday morning alongside Family Support Worker, Megan.

Said Kerry: “I heard about the Incredible Years course at Acorns Family Hub and I thought that this would give me the knowledge that I wanted to be able to parent the way that I wanted to. From this, I gained a huge understanding of how children behave and react, and how we respond can have a massive impact. In the beginning, I was so anxious about attending, but then with the support from Jenny and Debbie at Acorns Family Hub, I built up the confidence to not only attend the coffee morning at Acorns, but to run my own coffee morning as a volunteer and alongside volunteering to aid with the Learn Through Play session with Megan.”

A big thank you to Kerry from all at Acorns Family Hub, for all that you do and bring to our team. Family Hubs are always looking for new volunteers if you are interested visit your local hub.
