Private Fostering Week in Hull
We are proud to support Private Fostering Week in Hull which is taking place from Monday 9 to Friday 15 December.
The aim of the week is to raise awareness of what a private fostering arrangement is, and the actions needed to ensure families receive the right support at the right time.
A privately fostered child is a child or young person under 16 years, or under 18 years if they are disabled, who is being cared for and is living with someone else for more than 28 days who is not a parent or close relative.
Private fostering could include -
- children sent to this country for educational or health opportunities including cultural exchange students staying for a period more than 28 days
- children living with a friend's family as a result of separation, divorce and disputes at home
- teenagers living with the family of a friend
If you are unsure if a situation is considered private fostering, you can find out more on the council website including how to report private fostering and the contact number for the council Early Help and Safeguarding Hub (EHASH) team should you need further advice.
