The Parks Rebranding
The Parks Children’s Centre is becoming the first children’s centre in Hull to be rebranded as one of the new Family Hubs!
Exciting changes are happening as we embark on a journey to enhance our services and activities for local families in Hull.
Hull was granted £3.5m after being selected to receive additional funding from the Department for Education and the Department of Health and Social Care to develop Family Hubs.
One-stop hubs will offer support from conception through to age 19, or up to 25 for young people with special education needs and disabilities, in local communities.
Family Hubs will expand what’s on offer in Hull’s children’s centres, and provide help with infant feeding, speech, language and communication, parent/carer and infant relationships, as well as enabling parents and carers to access social activities and peer support and enable young children to make new friends.
Local support workers will help with issues such as emotional health and wellbeing as well as wider support around things such as budgeting, housing, smoking cessation and job advice.
The expanded offer will include support with -
- becoming a new parent and all the challenges that may bring
- building loving and responsive relationships with your baby
- infant feeding
- speech, language, and communication and play at home
- social activities such as infant massage and play groups
- peer support for parents and carers including dads and partners and those families with children who have SEND needs
Hull was one of 14 areas chosen to receive additional money to become a Trailblazer area, which means Hull will be share good practice and approaches with other local authority areas.
