HENRY (Health Exercise and Nutrition for the Really Young)Henry logo

This programme runs for 8 weeks, 2 hours per
week either at your local Family Hub or online.

HENRY explores –

  • parenting skills and strategies
  • managing stress
  • looking after yourself as a parent
  • giving your children the best start in life

HENRY helps parents and carers think about how they can help their families to be healthier and more active in a relaxed way. The group sessions encourage parents to support each other.

As part of the HENRY programme, you can also take part in shorter workshops over an hour or 2 that cover -

  • starting solid foods. Know when to introduce new, first and finger foods to your little one. Explore different foods you might try and share ideas with other parents
  • healthy teeth. Understand the effect of sugar in foods and snacks. Explore healthier options that children will love, and get oral health information
  • eating well for less. Explore cost effective ways to shop, budget and provide healthy alternatives for your family that won’t break the bank.

HENRY has 2 programmes that are suitable for –

  • grandparents

with children between the ages of either 0 to 5 years old, or 5 to 11 years old.

Healthy Lifestyles Team

The Healthy Lifestyles Team work within the Family Hubs.  They deliver a range of programmes to help get children under 5 active, offering support to parents around healthy eating and cooking, and the HENRY programme above amongst many other things.

School Nursing Team

The Public Health Nursing service is provided by Humber NHS Teaching Foundation Trust. The service aims to prevent ill health, promote, and protect good health and wellbeing of children aged up to 19 years of age and their families. They can support with things linked to healthy weight, diet and a whole host of other topics that you may want support with for your child:

Specialist Weight Management Service

A child at 98+ percentile on the growth chart there is a specialist weight management service in Hull called the Specialist Weight Management Service. This is only available through a GP or school nurse referral.
