Hand expression

Hand expression is a useful technique to encourage your baby to feed. It can be useful if your breasts are a bit full and you want to soften them to help baby latch, or if you are separated from baby. Also it is a useful skill to learn in case of any challenges you may face when breastfeeding your baby, such as a blocked duct/mastitis or to help yourself before support is available from the infant feeding team. You will have the chance to learn how to hand express before you leave hospital or after a home birth.
